Using split track CDs with Si Expression, Si Compact and Si Performer consoles
In house of worship applications, a split track CD is often used which has music on one side of the stereo channel and voices/backing on the other.
To connect these to the console, use any two adjacent inputs, either mic or line type. To use split tracks, pan both to centre (or as desired) and use the faders to balance music and vocals accordingly.
If the source becomes true stereo, you could set up another channel by double-patching these inputs to a pair of LINKED (STEREO) channels with pans hard left and right and use one fader to control the stereo source. This has the advantage of faster operation and independent control of split or stereo mode without having to change the panning.
Use the assignable fader layers to bring these (only need one of the stereo channel faders) up next to each other on the same layer for even easier use!
