Occupying a large and central site facing onto the lake, the KKL centre is a showcase for the distinguished French architect Jean Nouvel. Dominant but graceful, the building comprises three different spaces — a carefully acoustically-engineered concert hall, a flexible space for concerts and congresses and an art gallery. Each has a quite different character architecturally, unified by the distinctive roof and the plaza it covers.
Since the KKL's opening, the venue has rented in FOH control systems according to its requirements; rental company Tonart Audiotechnik has regularly supplied Soundcraft MH4 desks to the congress centre. Now, Thomas Dürger, the Technical Director of the KKL, has specified a 40-channel Soundcraft MH3 for permanent installation in the Luzerner Saal, the multipurpose hall which is used for everything from rock concerts to corporate events.
Mr. Rudolf Schenker of Tonart, which installed the new front-of-house control equipment, explains that, “in the Luzerner Saal, the house desk is mainly used for speeches and playbacks; the MH3 was found suitable because of its high quality audio and feature set.”
