Nordic Rentals purchase pair of Vi6's

--One of Scandinavia’s leading rental companies, Nordic Rentals A/S, has invested in two Soundcraft Vi6™ digital mixing consoles, supplied by distributors Music Industri & Audio (MIA).

Based near Vejle in Denmark, the sound, light, AV and staging company has been fronted by Lars Aunsberg, Jens Elsborg, Mogens Petersen and Lars Bo Baadsgaard for 15 years. Along the way Nordic Rentals have built up a wide armoury of mixing consoles and associated market knowledge — but the constant thread that has run right through their rental fleet has been a succession of Soundcraft boards.

Looking at the latest generation of digital mixing surfaces Jens and Lars Bo were adamant that any purchase needed to be a true multi user interface desk, enabling several engineers to perform multiple operations. “This was essential, as we handle a number of festivals where you need two people working the desks,” Lars Bo reasoned. “This is an excellent feature, and one which the Vi6 has.”

He should hardly have been surprised, as Nordic Rentals, who handle Status Quo’s shows in the UK, formed part of the focus group involved in the design of the Vi6. “With its excellent sound and multi-function design, we knew from an early stage that this would be the desk for us,” said Lars Bo.

In fact they bought two (along with 64-channel Stage Racks), and these are already seeing service on theatre and television shows, at both the FOH and monitor positions. The Vi6 was also used on the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2007, the show for which Denmark’s Eurovision entry was selected.

Both Vi6’s have been fully upgraded with the new processing card which brings both Lexicon effects and BSS Audio equalisation online for the console.

Nordic Rentals A/S will undertake their own training and education programmes for sound engineers with the new festival season beckoning. “I hope other sound engineers will come to us now that we have the Vi6’s, as it is a really intuitive desk and easy to learn,” Lars Bo concluded.
