With a seating capacity of more than 880, the Concert Hall designed for a variety of choral and musical recitals features three clusters of JBL SR4735XF Three-way loudspeakers and SR4719X subwoofer configuration each soffit-mounted above the stage fronting the audience. Another four units of SR4735XF three-way loudspeakers are mounted at the mid-hall area. To provide additional reinforcement, eight Control 28s are placed below the gallery while four Control 25s are installed in the dressing rooms. The entire system is powered by the Crown MA3600VZ and the Crown CE2000 amplifiers. Signal processing is done by a three dbx 240 while a 32-channel Soundcraft K3 is deployed as the main board and a pair of Spirit Absolute 4P is used for active monitoring in the control room. To provide the necessary fold-back, four Crown CE2000-powered JBL MR902s are engaged together with the use of a Rane GE60. The venue also houses other products such as Shure UA845-MA, Rane AC22B, Crown CE4000 and dbx equipment.
A slight smaller venue, the 280-seat Drama Theatre used for mainly theatrical performances also boasts a similar JBL system design which includes three units of SP222 with two units of MP418S subwoofers. Mid-hall loudspeakers are five JBL Control 28s while four Control 28s are installed below the gallery and two more units of Control 25s are placed in the dressing rooms. The entire system is powered by three Crown MA2402s, two CE2000s and a unit of CE1000. The venue features the same foldback system as the Concert Hall. It also uses a dbx unit, the Spirit Absolute 4P monitor loudspeakers as well as an additional unit of Shure DFR-11EQ and a 24-channel Soundcraft K2 mixer.
In terms of visual system design, both locations use a Crestron CNMSX-PRO with TouchScreen Panel each for remote control of the AV media as well as Extron CVDA 6 MX video distribution amplifiers. In addition, the concert hall also deploys a unit of Extron System 8 Plus for Video/Audio switching purposes.
Catering to speech-related and other multi-purpose events, the 1200-seat Auditorium is the largest performing venue. To achieve optimum coverage, two clusters which individually comprise of a JBL AM4215/64 mounted on top of an AM4215/95 are placed above the stage from a height of nine metres. Four units of Control 29AVs are placed under the balcony while another three more units are placed above the balcony area as the distribution system. The entire loudspeaker system is managed by the dbx480 loudspeaker management processor and powered by three units of Crown CE2000s and two units of Crown CE1000. One unit of Soundcraft Spirit LX 7 is used as the main board for the venue. "
Unlike the Concert Hall and Drama Theatre, the Auditorium already had its own sound system. E&E was called upon merely three weeks before the grand official opening of the school to redesign and reinstall the sound system. Utilizing EASE Audio Simulation Software, the system design was developed and its performance was predicted then installed. System alignment was accomplished with the aid of SIA SmaarTLive Sound System Optimisation and Control Software. And we are glad to have completed and handed over the project on time to commemorate the successful grand event which was held there," says Yusof Ahmad, Project and Sales Manager, Electronics and Engineering Pte Ltd.
Since the new campus' official opening in July, the sound systems in all three venues have been operating to a highly satisfactory level according to the needs of the school. Ng Eng Chin, Principal, ACS Barker Road, comments:" E&E's Pte Ltd has been very professional in advising and providing the sound system for us.
